Cornea

The cornea is the first lens that is part of the eye’s optic system, through which the rays of light pass and focus on the retina. For this to happen, the cornea has to be transparent and have a suitable and regular curvature. The importance of the cornea is that, being at the front of the eye, it acts as a protective shield for other ocular structures, and that good sight depends on its transparency and regularity. The cornea has six layers and any of them can be affected.
